My art is a marriage of old and new techniques. I have trained myself old world artistry such as: painting, sculpture, doll making, wood-works, puppetry, and calligraphy. On the new side of the spectrum I have shot, directed, edited and designed film projects. My piece “The Concrete Flower” was a way to merge all my interests. I built a miniature set. The background is painted, the scenery is sculpted, the lighting is staged, and the scene is locked - the end result is a photographed diorama. Essentially it is a kind of cinematic window into a fantastic world. Concrete Flower is about nature’s restore to order. Even all the concrete in the world can’t restrain a flower’s beauty.”
